Ruaha / Mikumi / Udzungwa / Selous Via Mufindi

Day 1
Pick up from Dar es salaam Hotel and drive to Mikumi . Lunch at Vuma Hills Tented Camp. After lunch relax. Late afternoon game drive in Mikumi National Park. This park is famous for its open grasslands and the mountain ranges that border the park. A full spectrum of wildlife can be viewed here including wild dog and over 300 species of bird. Dinner and Overnight at Vuma Hills Tented camp/ Mikumi Wildlife Camp/ Foxes Safari Camp.

Day2
After breakfast drive with packed lunch to Udzungwa Mountain National Park. Enjoy a guided walk in this park famous for rare plants and primates including two that are endemic-Iringa Red Colobus and the Sanje crested mangabey. Walk in the lush rain forest and enjoy relaxing by water falls and spectacular views of the south west plateau. Late afternoon return to Vuma hills Tented Camp/ Mikumi Wildlife Camp/ Foxes Safari Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day3
After breakfast leave with a packed lunch to Ruaha National Park. This journey takes you through the Kitonga hills which border the Udzungwa mountains . The road follows the Great Ruaha River and then climbs the Great Rift Escarpment and then past Iringa Town and onto Ruaha River Lodge/ Tandala Tented Camp/Mwagusi/ Jongomero.

Day 4 + 5
The next two days are spent game driving in Ruaha National park, one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets. A large variety of game is seen including hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, lion ,leopard, hyena, wild dog, greater and lesser Kudu. Ruaha is the country’s biggest elephant sanctuary and hone to over 370 species of Birds. Full board at you chosen lodge- Ruaha River Lodge/ Tandala Tented Camp/Mwagusi/ Jongomeru.

Day 6
After breakfast drive to Mufindi Highland Lodge in time for lunch. Mufindi highlands offers you the opportunity to experience a different part of Tanzania. This area is surrounded by tea estates, dark thick montane forest, rugged bushland interlaced with lakes, rivers and streams. It is an ideal place to relax after the rigors of your safari. The climate is cool and there are a number of activities to choose from including walks, fishing, golf, mountain biking and horseback riding. Full board at Mufindi Highland Lodge.

Day 7
Choice of activities at the lodge or relax enjoying the cool climate and stunning scenery. Full board Mufundi Highland lodge.

Day 8
After breakfast drive back towards Dar es salaam with a packed lunch. Dinner and overnight once again in Mikumi (Vuma hills Tented Camp/ Mikumi Wildlife Camp/ Foxes Safari Camp) or take this opportunity to stay in a country town- Morogoro. Here the options are Acropol Hotel or Oasis Hotel.

Day 9
After breakfast drive to the Selous with packed lunch. This is one of the most amazing road trips you can do in Tanzania. The drive will take you through truly wild and untouched parts of the country, through the uluguru mountains past small villages and eventually into the Selous game reserve. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp, Impala, Selous safari, Sandrivers or Beho Beho.

Day 10 +11
Two full days exploring the Selous Game Reserve. This is the largest protected wildlife area in Africa. This park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plains and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries, the kilomobero and luwegu. It is the largest catchment area in East Africa and the ideal place to view game by boat, on foot and on game drives. You will have a choice of two of these activities a day at any camp you choose to stay in. Accommodation is on full board.

Day 12
After breakfast transfer to airstrip for flight to Dar es salaam or Zanzibar.

Ruaha / Mikumi / Selous

Day 1
Pick up from your hotel and drive with packed lunch to Ruaha. The journey will see you leaving behind Dar es salaam and the humid, low lying coastal belt. The highway crosses the hills of the coastal hinter land. The road then dips down onto scrub covered plains. Tall termite hills are seen along the road side together with local Masaai like tribe selling beaded necklaces and belts.
You then pass the Sisal plantations and begin to get glimpses of the beautiful Uluguru mountains that soar above the plains and the town of Morogoro. The highway then posses through Mikumi National Park and you will get the opportunity to view the game. Beyond Mikumi the road climbs the Kitonga hills which are part of the Udzungwa Mountains.
The road then follows the Great Ruaha river and then climbs the Great Rift Escarpment and then past Iringa town and onto Ruaha River Camp. The drive to Ruaha is truly fascinating and gives you a real feel of the African country side.

DAY 2 + 3
Two full day game drive in Ruaha National Park on full board basis at Ruaha River Camp. Ruaha River Camp is built overlooking the Great Ruaha River and it blends into its natural surroundings to enable visitor to feel themselves part of the wild.
The accommodation consists of Bandas built from local stone and thatch and provides the perfect setting in which to relax between bush excursions. The dinning bandas and bars, in elevated positions above the river combine comfort and coolness with unrivaled panoramic views.

Day 4
After breakfast drive to Mikumi with packed lunch. Early afternoon arrival at Mikumi Wildlife Camp. Late afternoon game drive in Mikumi National Park. Dinner and overnight at Mikumi Wildlife Camp.

Day 5
Early morning game drive in Mikumi National Park. Breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast depart with packed lunch for the Selous. The journey will take you approximately 7 hrs through the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania.
The drive will take you up into the Uluguru mountains across rivers and past small local villages and farms and on to the Selous. The drive is tiring but possibly the most rewarding and adventures on the Tanzania Tourist Circuit. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 6 + 7
After breakfast you can stretch your legs and enjoy the thrills of a safari on foot. After your walking safari return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch game drive in Selous game reserve. Dinner and overnight Rufiji River Camp.

Morning boat safari on the Rufiji River. This unique safari will allow you to experience the wildlife along the river banks and have close up views with Crocodile and Hippos. Return to the Camp for lunch. After lunch game drive in the Selous. Dinner and overnight Rufiji River Camp.
Optional full day game drive with packed lunch on day 7

Day 8
After breakfast drive back to Dar es salaam with packed lunch. Early afternoon arrival in Dar es salaam. Transfer to hotel or Airport for onward journey..

Bagamoyo / Saadani / Selous

Day 1
Pick up from your hotel and drive up the North coast to the sleepy fishing village of Bagamoyo 70 kms north of Dar es salaam. Bagamoyo is the former capital of German East Africa. It was also one the centre of the notorious slave trade. The city was also the starting point for the first explorers on their way to search for the source of the Nile, Livingstone, Burton and Speke all passed through Bagamoyo.
Visit the Kaole ruins ,the mission museum and the temporary burial place of Livingstone. Lunch at a Paradise Beach resort. After lunch continue your journey North to Saadani National park. Dinner and overnight at Saadani safari Lodge.

Day 2
After breakfast enjoy a day in Saadani National Park, Tanzania’s first coastal Wildlife sanctuary. Here , if you are lucky you will sea while animals on the beach. You have the opportunity to do a walking safari, boat safari or game drive or relax on the beach. Full board at Saadani Safari Lodge which is located on the beach.

Day 3
After breakfast leave with packed lunch to the Selous via Morgoro, over the Uluguru mountains across rivers and past small local villages and farms and on to the Selous. The drive is quite long but possibly the most rewarding and adventures on the Tanzania Tourist Circuit. Late afternoon arrival in Sable mountain. There will be the opportunity to take short walks along the road in the Uluguru Mountains, visit Maasai Bomas. Dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge. Optional Night game drive.
Day 4
Full day game drive with packed lunch in the Western Selous including a visit to the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge.
Day 5
After breakfast full day game drive in the Selous with packed lunch. This day you will drive across most of the Northern Selous and get the opportunity to see the best of Selous abundance of wildlife and birds. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp, Impala Camp or Selous safari Camp.
Day 6
After breakfast enjoy a walking safari in the Selous with armed ranger. Lunch at your chosen camp. After lunch enjoy a boat safari on the Rufiji River. Dinner and overnight at your chosen camp.
Day 7
After breakfast transfer to airstrip for onward flight to Dar/ Zanzibar.
